Nina lost her leg in an accident. She slipped getting into a train and her leg was trapped between the railway carriage and the platform. Although she was taken to hospital quickly her lower leg was so badly damaged that it had to be amputated. Nina had a lot of problems finding the right prosthesis and constantly having to learn to walk with them, but now she is able to lead a perfectly normal life. She has never let her problems discourage her or cause her to lose her self-confidence.
