When Alicia was born the doctor made a mistake and as a result the blood circulation in her leg was interrupted. As a result her leg had to be amputated at the hip. For this reason, she has no stump and this makes walking with a “basket prosthesis” very difficult. In spite of this, she has never considered herself handicapped or an outsider. All her friends know her as she is today and it doesn’t bother anyone, except Alicia herself, that she walks a little differently to everyone else. Alicia’s greatest wish is to have a new prosthesis that will allow her to walk more naturally, but she can’t afford to pay for it. We arranged to have the prosthesis she is using at the moment repaired, so that she is able to walk much more easily, but a brand new electronic prosthesis would make a considerable difference. We (and especially Alicia) would be very grateful for any financial contributions anyone would care to make, so that Alicia can have her new prosthesis. Of course, we will help Alicia as much as we can to collect money for this worthwhile cause and have her new prosthesis made in Germany.
