Nicole was involved in a terrible traffic accident 5 years ago. Another car ignored her right of way and collided with her car. Nicole’s left leg was so badly crushed that it had to be amputated at mid-thigh shortly after. When Nicole was told the bad news, she was deeply shocked and could not imagine how she would ever walk again. But she didn’t give up hope and 2 months after the amputation she was fitted with her first training prosthesis and was able to take her first steps. Today Nicole is an outgoing and adventurous person who is not ashamed of her disability and deals with it openly. The amputation helped her to see life from a different perspective and she now lives life to the full and enjoys every minute.
